I received physical therapy and steroid injections for the pain. Then on Christmas Eve, on my way to work in the morning, my knee gave out, and I dramatically wiped out on the asphalt in front of the main door. Knee re-injured, clothes dirty, and ego bruised, I knew something had to change. I am the breadwinner of my family, and disability was not an option, especially if I could help myself.
I wanted strength primarily, the ability to walk and support my body’s frame, and any weight loss I finagled, purely incidental (for mental health reasons). I was referred to Dawn by a co-worker who competed in fitness and knew Dawn would help me achieve my goals. In our phone consultation, I labeled myself as level zero on a one-hundred-point fitness scale; weak, tired, hurt, and unhappy.
Dawn and I started working out with a custom fitness plan in January 2021 and haven’t stopped since. When we started, I had anxiety before our workouts, and now, I have anxiety when we don’t work out, a profound change in mentality, and a shift in my lifestyle. I am down in weight and up a massive amount of lean muscle and confidence. My injuries are gone, and painful arthritis is quenched. My mental health and sense of well-being are through the roof as I can trust my body to work for me now, after years of atrophy and inactivity. The biggest win of my recent life is being close to a proper kneeling push-up. Even close to the goal is a success for me, from zero to hero.

"When I began working with Dawn, I wanted to kick up my fitness routine a few notches – maybe lose a few pounds, create some muscle definition, and definitely increase my strength and endurance, as I’d recently begun hiking frequently and noticed I could use some improvement in those areas. Over the last year, Dawn has helped me do all of that. I’ve lost about 15 pounds, definitely increased muscle definition, and I recently hiked 3 of the 48 4000-footers in the White Mountains of New Hampshire in a single week for a total of 31.3 miles and nearly 10,000 feet of elevation gain without being completely wiped out by the end of the week.
